ジャマイカ風:
Long time ago, inna one likkle village weh di breeze sweet an’ di sun warm, did live one ol’ man an’ him wife.
Dem neva have much, but dem heart full-up wit love an’ peace.
One blessed mawnin’, di ol’ man get up an’ seh,
“Mi a head fi di hills, mi need fi chop some wood fi di fire, seen?”
Him wife smile soft an’ answer,
“Mi gwine down to di river, mi haffi wash some clothes today.”
So dem both step out, go ‘bout dem daily duty, like how good people always do.
Down by di cool riverbank, di ol’ woman a scrub clothes an’ hum likkle tune, when all of a sudden—splash splash… donburako donburako—somethin’ big start float down di wata.
She look up an’ seh,
“Lawd a mercy! Look pon dat big big peach! Mi haffi bring it home to di ol’ man, gi him somethin’ sweet fi eat.”
She lift it up careful-like, with one joyful heart, an’ carry it back home, not knowin’ seh today gwan change everything…
